About 4 weeks ago my primary physician prescribed Zoloft to me to help with my anxiety and sleep problems that started occuring about 4 months ago, which I believe had started as a result of excessive stress. I had some really bad reactions to Zoloft (severe panic attacks and anxiety) and that’s when the hissing – ringing in my ears started happening. I stopped taking the Zoloft after only 3 days but the Tinnitus continued since then. I don’t ever notice it at work during the morning or afternoon. It’s when I get home that I notice it, especially if I am fatigued or stressed out. Could the Zoloft reaction have triggered this Tinnitus and will it stop? I went to an ear, nose & throat specialist the other day, who checked my hearing and said I tested fine. He said the ringing noise is common among people with anxiety and that the anxiety must be treated with medication, preferably antidepressants, and that I needed to find one that I can live with, and it might be gone in 2 months.True?

Okay, well this started about 2 months ago, I started getting really lightheaded & thought I was going to faint. I panicked and called the ambulance. 2 days before that incident I had visited my doctor because of pulsatile tinnitus ( this swooshing noise that goes along with my heartbeat) she said it could be an infection.
Ever since I went to the hospital the light headedness is still here. 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Especially when I am out somewhere, I feel unbalanced. And I also feel brain fog…I feel confused and I forget stuff sometimes. I have really bad derealization.
I feel so alone, especially when doctors can’t figure out what I have.
I have had MRI’s and MRA’s, CT scans, and Carotid Ultrasounds. Since I thought I had narrowing somewhere because I have high cholesterol but not high blood pressure.
All of this is causing me stress, which is causing me really bad headaches and heart flutters. I’m going to a Cardiologist on Monday and If there’s nothing wrong then I am going to my ENT.
Does anyone think this could be a middle ear problem?
No rude answers please.

I have mild hearing loss in both ears & my audiologist recommends correcting it sooner rather than later with a hearing aid in both ears. I have no insurance, no income, live with my parents & they have low income. Is there anyone that would help cover the cost of me getting hearing aids?

Hi guys I’m hoping someone may be able to help me. I am an 18 year old female & for the past 2 months or so I have been very light headed. It’s not vertigo but it feels as though I could pass out. Along with this,I feel tired all the time sometimes I feel like I’m in a dream and I’m always with brain fog where I just don’t feel right. I seem to not be able to concentrate as well as I used to. I also have pulsatile tinnitus(doctors don’t seem to worry about it too much) I’ve had MRI’s of my brain also MRA because I thought I wasn’t getting enough blood flow to my head, I’ve had CT scans, Carotid Ultrasound, and blood tests.
What could possibly be wrong with me? I went to a neurologist, cardiologist, and an ENT. They all think it might be anxiety.
Right now I am going to another ENT who THINKS it might be BBPV…it’s just a suggestion, he doesn’t sound too sure though. He says not to worry about the pulsatile tinnitus…but the thing is that 2 days after first getting the pulsatile tinnitus I started getting the dizzy spells.
Could this all just be anxiety????
But could the anxiety cause 24/7 ANXIETY?
I meant 24/7 LIGHTHEADEDNESS*****
sorry about the typo.

I’m starting to suspect inner ear problems since I have suffered many sinus infections and such. I was thinking maybe labyrinthis(sp?) since I have all the symptoms. How do I get diagnosed with it? I am currently going to an ENT, should I go to a neurotologist instead because this ENT doesn’t seem to know too much about it.

It’s called Pulsatile tinnitus & I could not find an answer, today I found out that if you clean your ears with q-tips you are pushing water in & it gets behind your ear drum & causes bacteria to grow, also if you use things like paper clips to scratch your ears it leaves small tears & when you get water in your ears that makes it worse & why is it that your heart beat in your ears seems louder than ? Is it possibly from the build up of fluid in there & how do you get it out ?
I have been to an ENT specialist & had all kinds of test but nothing showed. My ears itch a lot & I have made the huge mistake of itching them with a a long twisted paper clip..bad idea, that may of caused something.

I have been taking Feldene, an anti inflammatory & my ears have been pounding. It’s called Pulsatile tinnitus & the dr. says no, it can’t be from that. But I read a lot of type of anti-inflammatories can do this.
Anyone out there experience this ? Why do dr.’s cover this stuff up, are they so bound to the drug rep’s for free stuff they would rather have a patient have side effects ?
I have been taking it for SLE (Lupus)
for many years. I have all of the symptoms you mentioned with RA.

I have had pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear for over 2 years, (it’ your heart beat heard loud in your ear)some mornings I wake up with a headache across my forehead, on those mornings my ear is quiet, had my sinus checked & they are fine. Been to an ENT & my dr. had lots of tests & they can’t explain it either. My blood pressure is fine. I wonder if it’s my neck ? It all started after my chiropractor adjusted my neck 2 years ago, he says no, but I still wonder. Anyone else have any ideas ?
