Hi, have finally got to the bottom of my ear ringing problems etc. I have a swollen outer ear canal and i have a slight case of tinnitus, maybe caused by the swollen outer ear not sure yet, also could be physoclogical as i am always thinking about it which makes it worse. Anyway i brought the drops home and by accident put too many drops into my ears!!!! Have been deaf all day – lol. Has anyone ever done this and how the heck do i get it out or will it evaporate / soak in on its own overnight while i’m in bed – i was so annoyed when i did it, finally getting somewhere and i go and do this – please help if you can. Also if you have slight tinnitus how do you control it.

I have suffered for a minor case of tonsulitis recently and my doctor has given me some penicillin to take 4 times a day for the next week, i also complained of not being able to hear very clearly while i had this illness. My doctor said it might be realted to tonsulitis as the throat is linked to the ears, and gave me some nasal spray to clear my sinuses. Approximately one day later, i had gotten up quite quickly and my ear felt like it had been blocked up with water. Then, 2 hours later, i started to hear a high-pitched pinging noise in my ear, like a flatscreen TV turning on. i have looked up the causes of tinnitus online and it said that some medication might be the cause and i was wondering if anyone could provide me with further information on this, and to see if taking nasal spray/peniclilin is the cause. thankyou,
Also, I have always been prone to tonusolitis and have never had this problem with my ear before. Is it also possible that certain painkillers like paracetamol can cause this ?
P.S it is my left ear.
This tonsolitis infection had seemed to have turned into ulcers at the top of my throat, is tht the viral infection? And now the antibiotics seem to have no affect anymore on healing my throat.

Im 15 and I’ve been wanting to be a pilot in the air force since I was like 4. My whole family has been in the military, and now its my turn (which is not a burdon I do not wan’t, I am dying to join the Air Force.) Anyways, One of my friends (about 3-4 months ago) slapped me across the head, and my ear has been ringing since. I went to a doctor like a week after, they said I had tinnitus. I haven’t been to a specialist yet, im going soon. I was wondering if I can still be a pilot in the Air Force if I have Tinnitus (left ear only). I plan on going to the Air Force Academy if I am Good Enough, and being a pilot is the only thing for me. I don’t see how something like a slap on the ear can impair my ability to do something, for life. Any response would be helpful. Pretty worried here. If you know any ways to end PHYSICALLY CAUSED tinnitus, please tel me. Im willing to do anything, and I’m not giving up on my dream.

I dropped my healthcare coverage in August ‘07 because I couldn’t afford to pay it (self-employed) anymore. Over the past year or so I have noticed a whoosing sound in my ears – at first it was only at bed, but now it is at least 30% of the time. The sound resembles the heartbeat or pulse – and by my own diagnosis – I believe I have pulsatile tinnitus. I feel an urgency to be seen by a doctor – as at best this is probably my anemia and blood pressure acting up or at worst, could lead to an aneurysm or stroke. All of the websites insist that you be seen right away. I can still renew my insurance (up to 6 months after cancellation), without having to go through the whole 9 yard process. So I’ve been planning to do so. However, my concern is — HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT after renewing to see a doctor? If I go right away, will they say that it is pre-existing and not cover any resulting treatment? Or does each company handle this differently?
Do I need to lie to the doctor then and not say that it has been occurring for some time? And no, I’m only 38, so I don’t have AARP insurance.

I’m so stressed about this. I’ve had ringing/static in one ear for over 5 weeks. I’ve been on prednisone (a steroid) for one week now and the ringing has gotten worse! None of this started until I had finished 5 days’ worth of steroids for a separate problem. Yet doctors tell me that steroids can’t cause tinnitus.
It won’t be permanent. That occurs for under 5% of people. Don’t say what you don’t know.
I used to have jaw problems. I currently don’t. I don’t think that’s related.

Okay, well this started about 2 months ago, I started getting really lightheaded & thought I was going to faint. I panicked and called the ambulance. 2 days before that incident I had visited my doctor because of pulsatile tinnitus ( this swooshing noise that goes along with my heartbeat) she said it could be an infection.
Ever since I went to the hospital the light headedness is still here. 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Especially when I am out somewhere, I feel unbalanced. And I also feel brain fog…I feel confused and I forget stuff sometimes. I have really bad derealization.
I feel so alone, especially when doctors can’t figure out what I have.
I have had MRI’s and MRA’s, CT scans, and Carotid Ultrasounds. Since I thought I had narrowing somewhere because I have high cholesterol but not high blood pressure.
All of this is causing me stress, which is causing me really bad headaches and heart flutters. I’m going to a Cardiologist on Monday and If there’s nothing wrong then I am going to my ENT.
Does anyone think this could be a middle ear problem?
No rude answers please.

Hi folks, i have been recently diagnosed with Tinnitus, my question is, what are the normal symptoms for this (apart from the ringing – lol), It is normally worse when i get up in the morning. Also i get headaches that seem to be sometimes in the top of my head, other times at the front, can thinking about tinnitus give you the headache in the first place, as this thing drives me crazy i suppose the anxiety or depression it causes can cause otherproblemss as well as the headaches.

I have had pulsatile tinnitus for the last 3 months and also tension like headaches. In the last month or so my jaw has started clicking and it hurts a little to open my mouth wide and my jaw aches. I do have a habit of biting my nails and pens etc and I read that that could cause TMJ?
I have been very anxious in the past few months and also had palpitations which have now gone. But the headaches and tinnitus seem to be worse when I get anxious or stressed so I’m not sure what it could be.
I read that it could be TMJ? Anyone know if it could be? I’m really worried it could be more serious.

I have recently discovered my tinnitus and it bothers me a lot. I have the type that sounds like it is coming from the center of my head. When I am in a quiet room it makes me dizzy hearing it, and it seems SO LOUD! But throughout the day I don’t notice it, it gets drowned out, but I know it is still there. Every time I go to my quiet room and listen to it it seems like it is worse than the day before, but I am not certain of this. Is this awful ringing in my head causing further damage? Also, I fear that this may be permanent and I’m afraid I may not be able to cope with it. Anyone relate to that?
